My Philosophy is to get to know my families really well in order to support them down whatever path they choose with an open mind and open heart. I dedicate my energy to making sure the experience is the best it possibly can be for the entire family. I have had the honor of attending births in hospitals and birth centers in Colorado and the Twin Cities, at homes, VBACs, cesareans, waterbirths, unmedicated, medicated, with partners, without partners, and feel that each one has been a unique extension of how I help families as a doula.
What is a doula?
Doulas are advocates for mothers and their partners through their childbearing year. Doulas provide an amazing amount of love, support, information and guidance through teaching, massage, yoga, breathing, and being that bottomless tool that you need. Doulas do not replace the role of the partner, they give them confidence, assurance, and empower them through the process.
Why a doula?
Doulas get to know mothers and their families throughout their pregnancy and are with moms 100% throughout their birth. They are the familiar face before you are with your provider, when you are in the hospital or birth center, and after the birth of your baby allowing you to feel comfortable. Their role is to support you physically and emotionally, without other responsibilities, unlike anyone else on your care team. As a doula, I believe knowledge is power. I will work hard to help you see your options and make informed choices. I recommend taking a non-hospital affiliated Childbirth Education course with your partner to help you better understand the rhythm of labor and your choices on this journey.
